Automatic Evaluation
In the Job Jackets pane of the Preferences dialog box, you can choose to automatically evaluate a layout On Open, On Save, On Output, or On Close (these are cumulative; you can choose any one or more of the check boxes at once).

When these options are selected, calling the related commands in the application initiates the evaluation process. For example, choosing File > Print (or pressing Command/Control-P) evaluates the layout before you see the Print dialog box.
If an error is found, you'll see a warning message.
Clicking Cancel in the warning lets you open, save, output, or close the file without reviewing the problems. Clicking OK shows the Layout Evaluation dialog box, where problems are marked.
Evaluate a Layout
Make sure cosciel_check.qxp is open from your Work_In_Progress folder.
This is the file that you saved in a previous exercise, in which you attached an existing job ticket to an existing project. You also modified the job ticket that was attached to the project, adding job-jacket resources into the project's job ticket and consequently to the project.
Now you're going to modify the layout settings for the Poster Ad layout so you can evaluate it against settings in the job jacket.
Choose File > Job Jackets > Modify Ticket.
In the Edit Job Ticket dialog box, display the Layout Settings tab and click Poster Ad in the list of layouts.
Poster, which is the layout that is defined within the job ticket, is listed with existing layout specifications, rule sets, and output specifications. Poster Ad, which was created in the project before you attached the job ticket, doesn't have those settings yet.
Choose Print in the Medium Type menu, and choose 4c Poster in the Layout Specs menu.
Click Output Specifications in the list of resources, and move the only available option to be included.
Click Rule Sets in the Resources list and move Graphics checks into the list.

Click OK to return to the Project window.
With Poster Ad layout displaying in the Project window, choose File > Job Jackets > Evaluate Layout.
The Layout Evaluation dialog box shows everything that will be evaluated, broken into groups based on origin. The dialog box you see should include four groupings of rules:
Layout Settings (only checks the Medium Type); 4c Poster, which is the layout specification defined for this layout; Graphics checks, which is the only rule set defined to this layout; and CMYK Web output spec, which is the only output specification for this layout.

Note: The evaluation process is layout-specific.
You have to evaluate each layout in a project separately.
