This exercise was designed to show you several things:

  • First, it is relatively easy to add resource items to a job jacket or ticket.
  • Second, by first adding an output setup, then creating the job description and layout specifications, and then calling those elements in the different layouts, you should begin to better understand the inter-relationships between different resources.
  • Third, you didn't add all of the possible resources and settings to the job jacket. As you entered in the project instructions, this is the early comp stage of a project so this is not an unrealistic scenario.
  • Finally, it took 26 steps to create a largely incomplete job jacket. In other words, this is not a quick process. However, once you've created a complete job jacket, you can duplicate it for similar projects or copy the resources into other job jackets. You don't have to reinvent the wheel every time you start a new job.
