Manage a Job Jacket in Basic Settings Mode
To complete the exercises in this chapter, click here to download the RF_Quark7 > Chapter16 folder into your Work_In_Progress folder. These exercises will not work if you try to use the file directly from the Resource CD.
Close any open project in QuarkXPress.
Choose Utilities > Job Jackets Manager.
The first time the Job Jackets Manager is opened, it appears in Basic Settings mode. After that, it opens in the last-used mode.
If the Job Jackets Manager is in Advanced Settings mode, click the Basic button to switch to Basic Settings mode.
Click the Open Job Jacket button.
Navigate to the file AVProduction.xml in your Work_In_Progress > Chapter16 folder and click Open.
Click the arrow to the left of AVProduction to expand the jacket.
Click the AVProduction job jacket to select it and click the Edit button.
In the Edit Job Jacket manager, click the arrow to the left of Settings to expand the dialog box and show the different options.
Display the Contacts tab. Click the New Item button to add a contact.
Click the word "Contact" in the list and type "Design Manager".
Click the arrow to the left of Design Manager to expand the item.
Enter your own contact information in the different fields. Use the Tab key to move from one field to the next.

Display the Layout Specification tab of the Edit Job Jacket dialog box.
Click
the New Item button to add a new layout specification to the
job jacket.
Click the Layout Specification item in the list and type "4c Poster".
Click the arrow to the left of 4c Poster to expand the item.
Enter the following settings (if an option is not listed, leave it at the default):
Page Count: 1
Page Width: 10"
Page Height: 16"
Margins: 0.5"
Bleeds: 0.125"
Color Standard: CMYK
Spot Color: None
Total Inks: 4

Display the Style Settings tab of the Edit Job Jacket dialog box.
Choose Browse from the Append From menu.

Navigate to the WebMagazine.xml job-jacket file in the Work_In_Progress > Chapter16 folder.
Notice the title bar of the navigation dialog box says "Select Project or Job Jacket". You can append style settings from either of these sources.
