Part 2 of 3: Working in Advanced Settings Mode

In Basic Settings mode, the Job Jackets Manager is merely a portal. To create a new job jacket, you have to click the New Job Jacket button. This opens the New Job Jacket dialog box, where you define the job jacket's settings.

Note: You can edit an existing job jacket or ticket template by selecting
it in the Job Jackets Manager and clicking the Edit button. In this case,
the title bar of the resulting dialog box will say "Edit" Job Jacket
instead of "New" Job Jacket.

You should start by assigning a name to the job jacket. As we recommend for any element or asset that you define in QuarkXPress, you should use a meaningful name that describes the job jacket's purpose. "New Job Jacket" means nothing, but "AV Ad Campaign" precisely describes the jacket.

Once you've named the job jacket, you can move on to define the jacket's resources:

  • Add or edit ticket templates in the Tickets tab.

  • Add assets using the Style Settings tab. The Append From menu lets you import the assets in the default Application set, or browse to import assets from any other existing file.

Add contacts in the Contacts tab.

Define layout specifications in the Layout Specifications tab.

Working in Basic Settings mode, you can't define job descriptions or rules, and you can't directly access application-level resources (source and output setups, output styles). If those elements will be applied, they must be created or imported in Advanced Settings mode.
